A phpMyAdmin alternative built from the ground up for security and performance.

AS Db

Why AtheraStudio Database

Everything you need to build amazing websites

Security that works from day one

Brute-force protection, attack detection and an audit log are active from the first launch. Add an administrator e-mail to receive alerts.

Large tables without slowdowns

Browse tens of thousands of rows at once. Rows are streamed, so PHP memory use stays low.

Runs on ordinary hosting

A shared hosting plan with PHP is enough. Install it in your domain root, on a subdomain or in any subfolder.

Built-in security

Brute-force protection

Every failed sign-in is logged with its IP address. Repeated failures block the address temporarily, and each further block lasts longer.

Distributed attack detection

When failed sign-ins come from many addresses at once, sign-in is locked for 24 hours (configurable) for unknown addresses. Addresses you recently signed in from can still get in.

E-mail alerts

E-mail alerts about attacks, lockdowns and sign-ins from new IP addresses, with a one-time link to lift a lockdown. Sending uses PHP mail(); SMTP is available for hosts where mail() isn't delivered.

TOTP

Two-factor authentication for the panel, compatible with Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, Aegis and similar apps.

Web attack protection

CSRF tokens, a strict Content Security Policy against script injection, and protection against embedding the panel on other sites.

Audit log & Safety checks

Audit log of sign-ins, blocks, exports, imports and settings changes. The panel checks whether its configuration file is reachable from the internet and detects when it runs behind a CDN.

Everything for everyday work

Data: browsing with sorting, search and filters; inline editing with a double-click; a row form with functions (UUID, NOW, MD5, SHA2…); duplicating and deleting rows; copying as JSON, INSERT or TSV.

Structure: table designer, column editing, indexes and foreign keys; viewing, editing and dropping triggers, procedures, functions and events.

SQL: an editor with syntax highlighting and table and column suggestions; run the whole script or just the statement under the cursor; EXPLAIN, formatting, query history and multiple result sets in tabs.

Server: databases with sizes, users and passwords, processes, variables, a live monitor and search across a whole database.

Import: SQL, SQL.gz, CSV and encrypted A-TBDE. Export: SQL, SQL.gz, CSV, JSON and encrypted A-TBDE.

Convenience: command palette (Ctrl+K), keyboard shortcuts, light and dark themes, English and Polish, mobile layout.

A-TBDE – encrypted backups

Export your database to an encrypted .atbde file. Without the password, the file can't be read or changed unnoticed. It uses established cryptography (AES-256-GCM, with the key derived from your password using PBKDF2-SHA256), so protection depends on choosing a strong password. If the password is lost, the data can't be recovered. Encrypted backups from AtheraStudio Database can also be opened in AtheraStudio Db Local.

Install in three steps

1. Upload the files to your hosting, domain root, subdomain or any subfolder.

2. Open the address and sign in with your MySQL or MariaDB credentials. The first account to sign in becomes the panel administrator, so sign in right after uploading.

3. Optionally add an administrator e-mail to receive security alerts.

Requirements:

PHP 8.0 or newer with pdo_mysql; MySQL 5.7+ or MariaDB 10.3+. Works out of the box on Apache and LiteSpeed; nginx and IIS need the short configuration described in the documentation. HTTPS is recommended.

FAQ

Can it replace phpMyAdmin?
For everyday MySQL and MariaDB work – data, structure, SQL, import, export, users and server status – yes. A few advanced phpMyAdmin tools aren't included, such as the visual relation designer, change tracking, editing privileges with checkboxes, and exports to formats such as XML, PDF or ODS.
Does it work on shared hosting?
Yes. It's designed for hosting with execution-time and upload-size limits.

How do I update?
Upload the new files over the old ones. Configuration, logs and sessions are stored separately and aren't overwritten.

Does it support PostgreSQL or SQLite?
The server edition supports MySQL and MariaDB. SQLite files and PostgreSQL dumps can be opened in AtheraStudio Db Local.
